Athol Yates, Executive Director of the Australian Homeland Security Research Centre
Athol Yates is the Executive Director of the Australian Homeland Security Research Centre. The Centre has a research program, led by Athol, into pandemic influenza as it is one of the major threats facing the nation.
Athol has written several publications and edited 2 books on pandemic influenza. His publications include:
- Business survival and the influenza pandemic: Essential preparations for critical infrastructure and businesses 2005
- Householders guide to influenza pandemic, 2007
- A pandemic-induced withdrawal of Coalition forces from Iraq, 2006
He has edited the books
- A Danger Greater Than War: NSW and the 1918-1919 influenza pandemic, 2007
- Western Isolation: The Perth experience of the 1918-1919 influenza pandemic, 2007
He is the editor of Pandemic E-News at www.pandemic.net.au and provides courses for pandemic workplace officers and frontline staff.
He was one of the key subject matter experts in developing the Pandemic Online Workplace Pandemic Training Course.
He is currently working on the book, The 1918-1919 influenza pandemic in Australia and lessons for the nation's pandemic planners.

The Homeland Security Communications Group specialises in information dissemination on man-made and natural disasters. It does this by producing books and directories as well as conferences, seminars, workshops and training courses in the domestic security sector.
